Had an insane amount of fun building a full guardrail system for autonomous agent tools and speaking on a panel on where AI is taking us at the NEBULA FOG hackathon this weekend with my co-founder Peter Høeg Steffensen.
We wanted to build something to enable code building agents to move faster, safer, so, in 8 hours from start to finish, the two of us built a distributed guardrails runtime for AI coding agents. A Go CLI hooks into the agent loop to evaluate every tool call against security policies in real-time. Fast-path rules (OPA/Rego with bash AST parsing) block or escalate instantly. Slow-path rules send suspicious calls to an LLM for deeper evaluation. When developers repeatedly override a rule, the system auto-triggers a threat investigation and stages a proposed rego policy fix on a SOC-style dashboard for human review, closing the feedback loop between developer friction and security policy.
Toni Lee even came by with our son Milton who got into the spirit building out a... 🥔 potato generator app.
Huge thank you to Rob Ragan, Gwenyth Castro, Caleb Sima and the rest of the team for putting on such a stellar event (with great pastries!)
Can't wait for next year!
